A Little Melancholy

Have you ever heard people say "Enjoy this time with your children because before you know it they are grown and gone?" I used to hear that all the time and I just thought, I know, I know, I am trying. . . . just this month I have come to realize the full extent of that statement.

On January 2nd, 2009, my little boy, Nate got his drivers license. Where has the time gone? He should still just be 2 years old playing with every ball he could find and reading every little book he could get his hands on. It feels like yesterday that he was sitting on my lap and having me sing to him "Angel Lullaby".

He was so much fun and mom's little shadow. One of his best buddies was his Aunt Tash, she would spoil him rotten and give him anything he asked for. (This made it fun for parenting) When he had a dirty diaper we would ask him, "who do you want to change your diaper", his response was always "Tash". Yep, we trained him well. :) He still loves his Aunt Tash.

Little Man Nate at 5 months old. How much do you like our couch?

Nate learning how to walk with our good friend John.

Nate with his buddy Tash.
It's not looking like Nate likes all my hair in his face. Poor kid.

Just look at him NOW!!

We have been realizing that we have about 1 1/2 years left with him before he serves a mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints. This time has gone by way to fast and so I am reminding myself to enjoy each day and take the time to smell the roses with my children.

You made me cry a little.... but then laughing at Tasha's hair made up for it! KIDDING! I only smiled at the big hair, it was cool then. I know that. :) We love Nate! Tell him so for us- Ryan is right here with me.

Wow Suzanne---it kills me how fast time flies. Remember when we moved here? Nate was only 10!! Congrats to him on his newly acquired license--such an exciting thing!
Oh, and I LOVED the hair. :)

Well, I know we have talked about this before. I can not stand the kids getting so big. I can't look at my kids pictures from 2 years ago without crying. I can't hardly stand it. I can't believe Nathan is so old. I can't say big because he has always been big. I have a hard time cause I still think of him as being so young. I haven't lived close to you guys for so long that he is still 6 years old to me. I sure love that good kid. Michelle

Nate has always been such a great example to everyone....family and peers! We just love him and the standards that he has set in his life. I well remember the relationship between Nate and Tash. As I recall his philosophy was this: If Mom and Dad say "No", go ask Tash. She will always say "Yes"!! Thanks for taking us down memory lane and reviving some great memories. I shall never forget the time spent with you and Daymon in Logan when Nate was born. Daymon wanted to make sure his baby son stayed warm so he made a fire in the stove. It got so hot during the night that I went outdoors several times during the night to cool off. I still remember the wonderful views of the Logan Temple from your front porch on those cold November nights! Love ya, Mom

It really does go by WAY too fast!!! Thanks for the reminder to enjoy all the precious moments (ok...even the not so precious moments) because it really goes by so quickly :)!

BTW, you have an extra / in the address for our blog. Once that is fixed you can connect to ours!

It's so true! Even though Charlie's not 4 yet, I feel like he's growing up too fast. Sometimes I wish he could be an adorable baby again.

I can't believe that Nate is growing up so fast. I told my husband Justin that I used to babysit Nate, Brook, and Brinli. I showed him your page and the picture that you have at the top. He looked at me funny and said, "How could you babysit that boy? He looks older then you are." I had to laugh at that, but I still can't believe your kids are so grown myself.

Thanks for the reminder to slow down and enjoy the "moments". I needed that! You are an amazing mom, Suzanne! I can't believe Nate is that old either. I think he was younger than Coby is now (almost 12) when you moved. Time marches on!
